Description

Why would you go to all the effort of making a decent curry, then ruin it with a shop bought naan bread. If you make these, you won't wanna stop eating them

Instructions

Mix it up

  1. The Dough

You can use your hands for this but it's loads easier with a mixer / dough attachment.

Add the water, sugar and yeast to the mixing bowl. Give it a bit of a stir and leave for 5/7 mins

Add the milk, yoghurt, oil, garlic, flour, baking powder and salt then put your mixer on a medium setting for about 5 mins with the dough attachment.

Alternatively you can kneed the crap out of it with your hands for about 10 mins.

It's ready when it's all balled together into a big chunk in the middle. Remove it and grab some kitchen roll and oil and lightly grease the bowl.

Put the dough in the middle of the bowl and cover with a clean tea towel.

Put in the airing cupboard for about 30 mins.

  2. Time to Fry

Dust your worktop with some flour and break start to break the dough up into sections. You want the size to be about half the size of your fist.

Roll it out on the flour so it's nice and thin in the middle, about 2mm thick and bit thicker around the front and back edges

Heat a frying pan on a medium / high setting. I usually go for induction number 12. Add 2 tsp of oil and place one naan in the pan

Leave for 2 mins, while brushing some oil on the top side, all over.

While you're waiting roll out your next naan

After 2 mins, flip it over, and give it another 2 mins.

When done place on a plate repeat the process with the others, adding a tsp of oil each time you do a new one.

As they're cooked you want to brush them with some garlic butter, so it melts over the top

Finally add some salt flakes - you'll notice i've added far too much - about half what I have in the photo will be plenty.

  3. Garlic Butter

Put the butter, chopped garlic and parsley in a microwavable bowl and microwave for 50 seconds.
